Two Community Impact Award Winners for 2017
The Central Louisiana Community Impact Fund (CLCIF) was established in 2009 to provide monetary support for a high impact project or activity which would enhance central Louisiana and the quality of life of its residents. Since 2009 time, the fund established by the gift has made awards totaling $505,000 to such diverse purposes as services for child abuse victims, art education, AIDS testing, domestic violence services, heart health, healthy eating habits, and helping the homeless. In 2017, CLCF received 19 applications and two were funded. It receipent will receive $25,000! And the winners are...RE-Entry Solutions and Red River Charter Academy.
Re-Entry Solutions' project is titled Operation Impact. Operation Impact's goal is to positively impact Alexandria’s citizens who are in dire need of essential support and guidance to return to independence through gainful employment or education thereby reducing the burden to the court’s participants and taxpayers.
Red River Charter Academy's project is titled VAL-U (Volunteer and Lead University). VAL-U’s goal is to fund educational and recreational activities for the newly opened Bethune Youth Center located in Marksville. This funding will be used to create an organized system of providing activities and will generate the capacity to create a curriculum and to implement an afterschool program.
